Tristan Watch in Paris

As previewed in an article (Sellars, Viola, Salonen, trio de feu à l'Opéra Bastille, April 11) by Marie-Aude Roux for Le Monde, the new production of Tristan und Isolde, with video images by Bill Viola (which I have been following for some time), opens today at the Opéra Bastille in Paris. It will run until May 7. Canadian tenor Ben Heppner and the much-praised Waltraut Meier will sing the title roles, respectively, and Peter Sellars directs. I'll snag and translate some reviews. Natch.
