I have to say that I think Abbado is right, in that Mozart's cadenza would be preferable to the one by Busoni. However, the choice of a cadenza really is the soloist's prerogative: if Abbado could not convince Grimaud of his point of view, he should have let her play Busoni. [New York Times]
