The Women of Vivaldi

Denis Rouvre provides the photographs for the iconic Vivaldi Edition from Turin (formerly op.111, now naïve) which celebrates its tenth anniversary this summer. The series of portraits is appropriately called "Beauty" and can be enjoyed on his website or the Vivaldi Edition's facebook account. Here are a few teasers--and a little post is up on WETA, too.

  1. Generally I have liked these images; they have given the Vivaldi edition a striking presence in the record shop. There was at least one, however, that was so badly chosen that, for me, it cast a shadow over the rest. What image would you pair with the Stabat Mater?

What? You mean the Virgin Mary did NOT look like a succubus masquerading as a Christian crusader while she wept at the side of the cross? ;-)

  3. I, meanwhile, instantly fell in love, when I first laid eyes upon that cover.
