Take the MAN Challenge!

Atrium, Museum of Modern ArtTyler Green, of Modern Art Notes fame, has a challenge for art bloggers. Do the impossible, come up with suggestions for the canyon that the Museum of Modern Art calls its atrium. When MoMA first reopened they installed Monet's Waterlilies, which melted in the vast space, and Barnett Newman's Broken Obelisk. They thankfully moved Claude to a more intimate space, and it was replaced by a Cy Twombly, which is better.
Mark's IdeaSo what should MoMA do with the space? Bloggers: Suggest. I'll keep an eye out for blogged ideas and in a few days I'll link to the best suggestions, as well as present my idea for the space.
Other blogs have begun to suggest ideas. Edward Winkleman suggests an aquarium for "Damien Hirst float a thousand dead sharks and other fish in it". I like that, though it could smell pretty bad, not good for the cafe upstairs. My first thought is an artist designed rock climbing wall. It could change every so often, a different artist every six months or so. Keep the kids happy while you view the art. This would great way to get to the fourth floor for lunch! Forget those busy escalators.
