Besides the
Scope/
Armory blur, I also got to see some shows in Chelsea and one of my favorite painters,
Paul Resika, at Salander-O'Reilly. Resika is a true painter with deep roots to his craft, a real balancing act of pared-down color and form. A breath of fresh air after the Armory. In Chelsea
Eric Fischl is holding court at Mary Boone. I don't quite relate to his subjects, but his brushwork is pretty impressive. A side note: whenever I go into Boone's gallery, the gallery manager sitting at the desk in the back always reminds me of Will Ferrell's character in the movie Zoolander,
Mr. Mugatu.
