Sartre after 100 Years

One of the 2005 anniversaries I missed this year is a big one. It came to my attention on the flight back from Rome that this year is the 100th anniversary of the birth of Jean-Paul Sartre. Here's a sampling of the panoply of articles:The reason for all of the hubbub right now (Sartre's birthday is not until June 21) is that the Bibliothèque Nationale de France has just opened a major exhibit on Sartre, which will run until August. This article in The Telegraph and several others have carried the story that the BNF is using a photograph from which Sartre's omnipresent cigarette (sometimes, he smoked a pipe) was removed photoshoppically (that word gets my vote for Adverb of the Year).
